Zorbing or sphering is an extreme sport of rolling downhill or water inside a huge inflatable ball or orb. The orb weighs 158 kilos and is about 360 cm tall. It is made of transparent plastic. Orbs can carry up to three riders. Inside the big ball, there is another, smaller ball where riders with guts can have a go. There is an air cushion between the two balls. The first zorbing was designed by David and Andrew Akers.
Zip lining or flying fox is an extreme sport that consists of a pulley suspended on a steel cable that is mounted on an incline. A user is pushed forward by gravity to travel from top to the bottom of the inclined cable by holding on to the freely moving pulley. The zip-wires were originally used as a means of transport in mountainous areas where people needed a quick transport across canyons, rivers and other impassable areas.
Base jumping is an adrenaline sport where a sportsman jumps from a fixed object like a tall building or antenna. The jumpers wear a wingsuit and a parachute to break their fall. Most base jumps occur at altitudes of about 600 metres but not less than 60 metres. The shorter the distance the bigger adrenaline rush for those who love this sport where there is no room for mistakes.
Cliff jumping or tombstoning is the practice of jumping into the sea, lake or river from a cliff or other high point. The jumper enters the water vertically straight, like a tombstone. For this extreme sport you need a full length wetsuit that keeps you warmer in water and gives protection from minor bumps and scrapes.
Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is an extreme water sport that uses the wind to pull a rider on the water surface on a small kiteboard. There are different styles of kiteboarding like freestyle, wave riding and cruising.
Skateboarding is an extreme sport in which you ride on a special skateboard on four wheels. Skateboarders have skate parks where they can perform tricks like riding on only two wheels, spinning only on the back wheels, high jumping over a bar and landing on the board again and slalom.
Wingsuit flying is an extreme sport of flying through the air using a special wingsuit. A wingsuit flight normally ends with a parachute opening. The wingsuit flyer wears parachute equipment that is also used in skydiving base jumping.
Ice climbing is an extreme sports activity of climbing up icefalls, frozen waterfalls or rocks covered with frozen ice. The sport is similar to rock climbing although it requires different equipment and footwear.
Whitewater rafting or rafting is an extreme sport of using an inflatable raft to navigate a rough river with a paddle in order to thrill or excite the rafters. According to International scale of River Difficulty there are six grades of difficulty in white water rafting.
