Niko: So how is your new school? Are you still having problems?
Neli: You can say that again.
Niko: You sound upset. What happened?
Neli: You know the kids made fun of my accent. I still can’t hide that I am from Murska Sobota.
Niko: It’s nothing to be embarrassed about.
Neli: I know, I know… I don’t think about it much now. I have other worries. Some boys are playing practical jokes on me as well.
Niko: Oh dear. How terrible! What kind of jokes?
Neli: Silly things. They hide my school books, eat my lunch, and mess with my bike... Last week things got much worse.
Niko: What happened?
Neli: Well, you know the designer school bags that are in fashion? All the kids have them except me.
Niko: So go and buy it.
Neli: My mum can’t afford to buy it.
Niko: What a shame!
Neli: Anyway, they were teasing me and I couldn’t take it anymore so I told the teacher. This made them so mad that they attacked me after school. I was bruised and mum took me to the doctor’s. I’m in hospital now. What would you do in my place?
Niko: Don’t worry. It’ll be OK. I hope you feel better soon.
Neli: Yes, but what do you suggest?
Niko: If I were you, I would try not to worry too much. I think you should report everything to the police. Maybe you should change your school. Why don’t you come back to our school? I really don’t know.
