Think about the work you've done – a zoetrope – and answer the following questions.
Do you find the instructions useful? If not, how would you change them?
What was the easiest part in making your zoetrope?
What was the most difficult part in making it?
Did you enjoy watching your zoetrope spin?
What would you change about it?
How would you improve it?
Is it better to work alone or in groups? Explain your answer.
On the internet, find the instructions for making another very simple device, called the thaumatrope. It was invented in the 1820s and it, too, creates an illusion. The word "thaumatrope" is difficult to translate. In old Greek, "thauma" means magic and "trope" refers to something that turns.
After finishing it (it won't take more than 10 min), fill in the grid below by ticking the answer that is true for you.
| Zoetrope | Thaumatrope | |
| The instructions were easy to understand and follow. | ||
| I enjoyed making it more. | ||
| I like playing with it more. | ||
| It took longer to make it. | ||
| To my opinion, it is more important for the development of moving images than the other. |
