One Slovenian family of four (parents and 2 daughters, aged 10 and 14) has travelled round the world. On their blog one can read:
We are curious, adaptable, and mostly undemanding. We love travelling and getting to know everything that's new. In this way we discover new countries, experience different cultures and we learn to accept them. We love to socialize with locals, explore new things, we are adventurers, and test exotic food ... In short, we like enjoying our life. Since we travel as a family, we have visited more than 50 countries on all continents of the world. We will describe one unforgettable experience, a one-year travelling around the world.
From August 4, 2013 to August 12, 2014 we travelled for 374 days and we visited 16 countries. One year away from home! One year we slept in foreign beds. One year we ate only in restaurants. One year we tried to understand and speak foreign languages. One year we did not go to school and work. One year we didn’t clean our house and do the house chores.
Read the text to get a general idea of it. Then try to answer the question that follows on the right.
We visited 16 countries. 34 times we flew by plane. We slept in 151 hotels. 11 times we visited a doctor. We read 90 books. We paid in 18 different currencies and used seven credit cards. We bought more than one hundred pieces of clothing and shoes.
When arriving home, our luggage weighed 60 kg (gifts, souvenirs, school supplies, clothing). When leaving it, half of it. We lost two cell phones and a few pieces of clothing.
We were never robbed. On our way we met less than a dozen Slovenes.
