Ana, Maja, Luke and Alex have asked some people of different ages what they are grateful for. Read their answers.
What are you grateful for?
Monica, 19 years: I used to take everything for granted. Now that
I am a little older, I see that how many problems there are in the
world. There are wars, starvation, violence, injustices. I have problems
like everyone else but mine are nothing comparing to the ones I
mentioned. I see how blessed I am having everything I need, not to
mention all the people who love me and I love them.
Connor, 21 years: I may seem strange but I am grateful that I can
go to school. All my friends would laugh like crazy if they heard me
say that but I really mean it. When I finished high school, I didn't
know if my parents could afford to send me to University. I was the
happiest person when they told me I could go.
Jack, 22 years old: I have just got my first job so I am extremely grateful for that.
Jane, 35 years: I have two small children. They mean the world to
me. I am grateful for them. I have just got separated from my husband
so it’s sometimes difficult but I know everything is going to be ok.
Bruce, 51 years: I live alone with my wife. My son has just moved
away from home and he lives far away so that we don’t see each other
that much. We often miss him but mostly we are very happy for him. He is
got a new job and he is getting married next month. That is really
great.
Anthony, 69 years: I have just had a serious surgery on my spine.
Doctors told me that if anything goes wrong I may not walk again. But
everything is all right. Yesterday I could already go for a walk outside
the hospital. I feel much stronger and healthier.
Mary, 80 years: I am thankful that I can still take care of myself. I am still very independent. I live alone so I am sometimes lonely. I am grateful when my children and my grandchildren come to visit me. I am thankful that I have a neighbour who stops by for a cup of coffee every day. We have a nice chat and everything seems better.
