Passive voice

There are three examples of passive voice in Robert´s discription of his ideal day. It is used to stress the action and not the doer of the action.

In the morning I am woken up by the sun's rays, . . .
. . . my favourite food is served for breakfast.

bribe = (v.) to persuade someone to act in your favour
laugh one's head off =to laugh uncontrollably, heartily

In the morning, I am woken up by the sun’s rays, not the annoying sound of the alarm clock, and I nestle against my soft pillow for a while before I get up. I get dressed, go to the bathroom, and when I come into the kitchen, my favourite food is served for breakfast. The sweet smell of hot chocolate, freshly squeezed orange juice, and some toast with cheese and ham. Mmmm. . . delicious.

I walk my dog in the meadow behind our house and we both enjoy the spring morning. I pick some snowdrops and make a lovely bunch for my mother. When I come home my best friend Katya is at the door and she offers to drive us to a small town by the sea. I bribe my mum with that bunch of snowdrops and off we go. We listen to our favourite music in the car and before we know it, we’re at the seaside. Worn out by a long ride, we decide to have lunch in a small but cozy restaurant. The sun is still shining and we decide to go for a walk, Katya takes many photos, and I buy a postcard and send it to my friend who is studying hard for her final exams.

The journey back home passes quickly and in the evening I laugh my head off at the hilarious photos of our trip to the seaside that Katya posted on Facebook.
