THE NARRATIVE

The fairy tale, by Oscar Wilde, is classified as a narrative. Read the text as it is, and fill in the gaps using one word only. The first letter is given.

A narrative in its broadest sense is any k ind of retelling or recounting, often in w ords of something that has h appened , a spoken or written account or a report of connected e vents . As a result, we distinguish between the "written narrative," and the "oral n arrative ", so a narrative is for readers and/or l isteners . A narrative often stands for a s tory , a fiction or nonfiction one. All in all, a narrative is what we typically think of w hen we think of "a s tory "- it is something that tells a tale instead of just relaying information like a textbook.
